MCP – Model Context Protocol

MCP (Model Context Protocol) allows you to connect AI assistants and other MCP-compatible tools directly to your inventory system. Via the MCP endpoint, the system's API is exposed as a set of tools that an AI assistant can call to look up items, check stock levels, and much more.

Prerequisites

Before you can use MCP, you must have at least one API key with MCP access enabled. You can either create a new key or enable MCP on an existing one:

  • Create a new API key: Go to Setup → API Keys, click Options and select Add new.
  • Use an existing API key: Go to Setup → API Keys and enable Allow MCP on the desired key.

Find the MCP endpoint

  1. Log in to your Lagersystem.
  2. Go to Setup → MCP.

Here you will find the MCP endpoint URL in a read-only field. Click the field to select the full address and copy it.

Connect an AI assistant

Use the endpoint URL to configure your MCP client (e.g. Claude Desktop, Cursor, or another MCP-compatible tool). Send your API key as a Bearer token with each request.

The exact configuration depends on the MCP client you are using — refer to the client's own documentation for how to specify the server URL and authentication token.

MCP actions in the log

Actions performed via MCP are shown in the system's log and audit columns with a ✦ icon (magic wand). Hover over the icon to see the full actor string.
