Create location series

To create a location series, go to Setup and click Location series.

Here you can click the "Create new location series" button

You will see this page:

Fill in the fields

Hall (this field is mandatory):

  • If you have several halls, enter the designation here. This could for example be A, B or C, etc.

Name (this field is mandatory):

  • Here you should enter a name for the location series that makes sense to you. This could for example be "Hall A – Row A – Small shelving units", "Hall A – Row A – Pallets", "Hall A – Overflow storage".

Type (this field is mandatory):

  • Choose whether it is a warm or cold storage location. In many cases, you can simply use the standard option if you have neither a cold nor a warm warehouse.

Insured:

  • Check this box if the location in question is specially insured, for example particularly expensive electronics or similar, where the locations are in a specially secured area.

Buffer:

Pattern (this field is mandatory):

  • This field defines how the location numbers are generated. You decide how many digits should be in the section, shelf, and space part of the location number. For example, if you write [SSS], it means a zero is automatically added in front of the section number, so there are always three digits. Section 1 would thus be called 001. You decide for yourself the order in which section, shelf and space appear in the location number. You can also, for example, write AB-[SS][H][P] to show in the location number that it is Hall A, row B.

Section interval:

  • These fields become usable once you have included [S] in your pattern. Here you specify the section number from/to. A section will typically be a section of a row of shelving.

Shelf interval:

  • These fields become usable once you have included [H] in your pattern. Here you specify the shelf number from/to. That is, if there are 5 shelves on all the shelving units in the location series in question, you should enter 1 in the first field and 5 in the last.

Space interval (these fields are mandatory):

  • You only need to use the space interval if you have a small warehouse with just a number of spaces, and you have not used [S] and [H] in your pattern. If you have a warehouse with several shelving units and shelves and have used [S] and [H] in your pattern, the space will be the individual space on a shelf. For example, if you have 10 spaces on each shelf, you would typically enter 1 in the first field and 10 in the last.

The last two fields, "Recommended size" and "Price per day", are reserved for storage rental facilities and are typically not used in a regular warehouse. Therefore, you can simply leave the default value as is.

Once all the fields have been filled in, click Save

You will then return to the overview of created location series. From this page, you can either create another location series, or you can print the barcodes for the location series you just created. You can also edit a location series.
