Change locations visually
Introduction
Change locations visually is a feature that allows you to add and remove locations directly via a visual presentation of your warehouse layout. Instead of entering location codes manually, you can see the entire warehouse hall, click on the relevant section in a shelving row, and then select the exact shelf and space in a clear grid.
The feature is available everywhere you work with locations.
Prerequisites
For the feature to be available, the following must be in place:
- Location series must be created (under Setup → Warehouse layout → Location series).
- There must be an active visualization plan (under Setup → Warehouse layout → Warehouse visualization). It is the active plan that determines which warehouse layout is displayed.
When a plan is active, a small grid icon ( ⊞ ) is shown next to each item in the location list. This icon is what opens the visual location view.
Open the visual location view
- Go to locations (or another view where locations are shown).
- Find the item you want to change locations for.
- Click the grid icon ( ⊞ ) next to the item.
- A window titled "Change locations visually" opens, followed by the item's number (and possibly a batch number).
Overview of the view
The window shows your warehouse layout as seen from above — exactly as it is configured in the active visualization plan.
The top bar

The canvas
The central area shows the warehouse hall with all placed shelving rows (location series) and inventory (packing tables, floor areas, etc.) from the active plan.
Navigation:
- Pan: Click and drag on the background to move around in the hall.
- Zoom: Use the mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out.
- The layout automatically adjusts to fit the content when the window opens.
The shelving row blocks
Each location series is shown as a colored block with:
- Series name — e.g. "Shelf row A", "Shelf row B".
- Section numbers — numbered fields (1, 2, 3, …) along the block, representing the individual sections of the shelving row.
- Green highlighting — sections that already contain the item are highlighted in green. This gives an instant overview of where the item is located in the hall.
The bottom line: Current locations
At the bottom of the window, a line is shown with all the item's current locations:
- Green text = the location is part of the visualization (i.e., it is placed on a shelving row in the active layout).
- Gray text = the location exists but is not part of the visualization.
- The quantity in stock is shown in parentheses, e.g. "1A020502 (3)".
Select a section
Click a section in a shelving row. A detail window opens, showing the section from the front.
The detail window
The detail window shows:
- Title — e.g. "Shelf row A – Section 2".
- A grid with shelves (rows) and spaces (columns):
- Shelves (H1–H5) are shown as rows with the top shelf at the top — just like in reality.
- Spaces (P1–P4) are shown as columns from left to right.
- Each cell shows the full location code, e.g. "1A020502".
Colors in the grid

| Light gray | The location is empty — the item is not here. |
Add or remove a location
Click a cell in the grid to add or remove the item from that location:
- Click a gray cell → the location turns green, and the item is added.
- Click a green cell → the location turns gray, and the item is removed.
A message confirms the action: "Location added: 1A020502" or "Location removed: 1A020502".
The change happens immediately — the location is updated in the system right away.
Close the detail window
- Click "Close" (top right of the detail window).
- Or click the semi-transparent background field outside the window.
When the detail window is closed, the canvas automatically updates so the green highlights reflect the current locations.
Working across halls
If your warehouse has multiple halls, you can switch halls via the dropdown menu in the top bar. Each hall switch updates the canvas with that hall's layout, including shelving rows and inventory.
The system automatically selects the hall that contains the item's locations as a starting point.
FLT mode (Full Location Tracking)
If your system uses FLT (Full Location Amount Tracking), the visual location view works a bit differently:
- Changes are not saved immediately. Instead, they are marked as pending.
- Once you have made all the desired changes, a "Save" button is shown with a badge indicating the number of pending changes.
- Click "Save" to send all changes to the system at once.
- After saving, the window closes, and the detailed location overview opens automatically, where new locations are marked with (new).
This ensures that you can review and collect multiple changes before they are registered.
Typical workflow
- Go to locations.
- Find the item, and click the grid icon ( ⊞ ).
- Look at the canvas — green sections show where the item is already located.
- Click a section in the shelving row where you want to place or remove the item.
- In the detail window: click the desired shelf/space to add or remove the location.
- Close the detail window — the canvas updates.
- Repeat for other sections or halls as needed.
- Close the window when you're done.
Tips
- Quick overview: The green highlights on the shelving row blocks give you an at-a-glance overview of where the item is located — without having to open each section.
- The bottom line: Use the "Current locations" list at the bottom to verify all the item's locations together. Green text indicates locations you can see on the canvas; gray text indicates locations outside the visualization.
- Zoom in: Use the scroll wheel to zoom in on densely packed shelving areas to more easily click the right section.
- Multiple halls: Remember to switch halls in the dropdown menu if the item needs to be placed in a different hall.
