Photo documentation – Document orders with the scanner's camera

On the back of your handheld terminal there is a camera, which you can use to take pictures as photo documentation of your orders. This can, for example, be used to prove that you have packed the correct items, that the package has been shipped, or similar. It can also be relevant if the order consists of several packages, so you can get an overview of what is in the different packages.

You will automatically be asked to take one or more pictures during the packing process (after you have picked all items) if the feature is enabled, and the pictures will be saved directly on the order in Lagersystem. This way, you can always go back to the order page and see the pictures.

How to enable Photo documentation​

For the feature to work, you must first make sure your scanner is updated to Lagersystem version 2.88 or newer. You can read how to update your scanner here.

To enable the Photo documentation feature, go to Setup -> Handheld terminal setup in Lagersystem.

Under the General tab you will find the Photo documentation option. You have five different options in the dropdown menu:

  • No: The feature is not enabled.
  • Ask for a picture (optional): Here you will be asked to take one picture. You can also proceed without taking a picture.
  • Ask for one or more pictures (optional): Here you will be asked to take one or more pictures. You can also proceed without taking a picture.
  • Take a picture (required): Here you will be asked to take one picture. You must take a picture to proceed.
  • Take one or more pictures (required): Here you will be asked to take at least one picture, but you can also take more. You must take at least one picture to proceed.

Once you have chosen the option that best suits you, remember to press Save settings at the bottom of the page.

The setting is now enabled and will take effect from the next order you process.

How to use Photo documentation​

When one of the features is enabled, and your scanner is on version 2.88 or newer, the handheld terminal will ask you to take pictures based on the selected setting. You will be asked to take pictures once you have picked all items on the order:

When you need to take a picture, simply click the button on the screen and confirm that the picture is good enough. If not, you can discard the picture and take a new one.

Once you have finished taking pictures, order handling continues as normal.

How to view the pictures you have taken​

To view the pictures you have taken as photo documentation, you need to find the order in Lagersystem.

First, search for the order, for example by order number, and go to the order page. If you scroll down a bit on the page, you will see a menu item called Photo Documentation. Here you will find the pictures that have been saved on the order:

You can click on the pictures to view them in full size, and you can save the pictures if, for example, you need to send them to a customer.

Under each picture you can also see the name of the scanner that took the picture, as well as when the picture was taken.
