Cargo mapper
A cargo mapper is how Lagersystem determines which delivery method should be used for your orders. We have made a video here that explains how to set up cargo mappers.
What is a cargo mapper?
Cargo mapper is how Lagersystem determines which delivery method should be linked to your orders. In shops and ERP systems, the shipping options chosen by customers can be called many different things. It could be "Free shipping", "51" or "To the nearest post office". To make sure your shipments are assigned the correct delivery method, you need to add one or more cargo mappers. That way you know that all orders called "Free shipping" should go with "GLS Privat" — or that all "To the nearest post office" orders should go with PostNord Pakkeshop, for example.
How do you create a cargo mapper?
To create a cargo mapper, go to Setup and select Shipping setup.
Once you are on Shipping setup, select the Cargo mapper tab.
Here you can add new cargo mappers.
You do this by going into your own shop or ERP system and finding the name of your shipping option.
In the example below, it is a WooCommerce shop, where we have gone into Settings and selected Shipping.
Once you have copied your shipping method from your shop or ERP system, you need to insert it into the Identifier field — which appears when you add a new cargo mapper. It is important that the name matches exactly as it is in your shop — both uppercase and lowercase letters.
If you have a shipping method that changes name. For example, a Pakkeshop order that might be called "Postnord Pakkeshop – Rema…" or "Postnord Pakkeshop – Shell…", you can add an asterisk ( * ). So it becomes "Postnord Pakkeshop*"
The asterisk makes the system search for all options called "Postnord Pakkeshop…" with something after it.
Remember that if you use asterisks, or Wildcard as we call it, you need to check the box here and remember to save the settings.
Once you have added your cargo mappers, they will also become visible under all your orders as an option, if you want to change the shipping method on your order.
Why isn't the cargo mapper working, and where do I find the Identifier?
With some systems it is not so obvious where to find the name of the shipping option. And sometimes it does not work when the order comes into Lagersystem.
Fortunately, you can easily find out which shipping text comes with the order into Lagersystem, and which should match the Identifier under cargo mapper.
Go to an order in Lagersystem and find the place where it says "Shipment type". It is located below the Billing address.
Next to the shipment type there is a small "i", and if you hover your mouse over that "i", you can see the shipping text that comes with the order from the webshop/ERP system:
In the example here, the shipping text is "GLS Hjemmelevering"
That is the piece of text that must match 100% with the Identifier over in the cargo mapper, including spaces and uppercase/lowercase letters, for the cargo mapper to work correctly.
